[00:00:00] Speaker A: And it was a vision as big as a movie theater screen.
And it was thousands and thousands and thousands of people from all ages, different colors and everything. And they were all looking at me, and they were all looking at me. And there was a terrible sadness in their eyes.
And the first sadness was, we're perishing and there's nothing we can do about it.
We don't want to perish, but there's nothing we can do to save ourselves.
We're lost.
And that kind of bothered me.
And then there was another sadness that came. And it's like there was this. It was a question and it was this.
Won't you come and help us?
[00:00:53] Speaker B: Welcome to the well, an Elam Fellowship leadership podcast. My name is Leah and I'm the social media and marketing coordinator here at Elam Fellowship. Each episode will draw from the heart of our leadership community and dive into messages that refresh, challenge and equip you in your walk with Christ. In this special series, we're bringing you teachings from our prophetic ministry conference held this past August. These sessions are full of wisdom, encouragement and practical insight to help strengthen you as a leader and as a prophetic voice in your environment.
Today's message is part one of a two part session featuring our speaker, Robbie Evans. So let's jump in together and hear what God is speaking to us.
[00:01:29] Speaker C: At this time, I'm going to introduce you to my friend, Robbie Evans.
I first met Robbie years ago. I went down to Mexico with him and we did a prophetic ministry conference together probably about 20 years ago. I told you this afternoon of the story of don't give up your church. And my daughters love Robbie because Robbie has prophesied the word of the Lord over them over the years as they have grown up. They really like him because they say daddy's a little, but like you, sometimes a little grumpy. Well, Robbie's not grumpy and neither am I. We're just authoritative. That's all it is right there. Mehrabi I call him an apostolic prophet because he has really apostolic leadership in the nation of Mexico as well as other places. During COVID he had me with Jonathan do prophetic ministry of pastors in Mexico, one after the other, churches of thousands, some of a hundred. But the influence that this man has had and I, I really don't like him, but I'm just being nice to him tonight that he has had in Mexico. He's been a Bible school director, he's been a church planter. He's got decades of ministry and the Best thing is, and the best thing he ever did in his life was. Mary Pat, can we all say amen? And just a godly couple, and she keeps them in line, if that's possible. But can you stand and give a warm welcome. I know you're tired. To my friend Robbie Evans. Amen.
Hallelujah.
[00:03:10] Speaker A: Why'd you sit?
I didn't tell you that.
That's all right. I'd sit down if I could, too. So it is a pleasure to be here with you and thank you. Is this St. Phil's throne? S.
Thank you. Don't knock it off, man. Don't knock it off.
Okay.
Kind of like two old men trying to change a tire.
All right. Just roll down the street. I get it.
Watch out for the cars. What?
Oh, my gosh.
How's everybody?
You know, a lot of you came back, you know, and that's a good sign. That's a sign of a love for God, a hunger for God.
And I really appreciate the two hours you've given me.
And we'll. We'll try and get as much done as we can in those two hours, but I'd like to invite you to open your Bibles to the first epistle of Paul to Timothy.
First Timothy.
We've been talking about prophecy, and I want to continue to talk a little bit about prophecy, but I just want to take a different angle on it. Okay, so first Timothy, chapter one, verse no. 1 time in second Timothy. No wonder I don't see it.
You know, I left my Braille Bible at home because it was too heavy to get in my suitcase.
But anyway, first Timothy, chapter one, verse 18.
Paul says to Timothy, this charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them might as war a good warfare. Kjv. Let's pray.
Lord, I thank you for this evening. I thank you for your word. I thank you for your spirit. I pray that the Holy Spirit would go before us, would lead us into your purposes, your thoughts tonight. And Lord, I pray that you'd come and confirm your word within us by the hand and touch of God. And in Jesus name I pray.
Amen.
I think we all know that in chapter 19, Paul went to Ephesus.
And Ephesus was the fourth largest city at that time, as if people are telling me the truth. The fourth largest city at that time in the ancient world we all know as a place that was known for its witchcraft and so many other undesirable things. But Paul went there with a team and he went in with one goal in mind, to raise up a church. And he did it.
God was there with them. Great things happened as he went in and preached in the city of Ephesus.
We find Paul's time there ending. I think it's in chapter 20, when after everything had been said and done, there was a great riot in the city.
And they wanted to get rid of Paul one way or another, actually. They wanted to kill him, I believe. But he escaped and he left.
But he didn't leave and just leave a disorganized group of believers behind him. Paul left the church behind him. He actually had the grace and ability to go into that cave of demonic captivity and actually found a church that lasted for many years, many, many, many years, and was a powerhouse in the. In the province of Asia. But nevertheless, he went in, he preached, he founded the church. Good things happen, riot. He has to leave.
So he leaves. But he left a young man at the head of the church. And we all know what his name was. It was Timothy. Timothy was one of Paul's disciples who was converted in the city of Lystra in Paul's first missionary trip. And when Paul went through there the second time, he saw him, and he says, hey, come along. Go with me. I think you've got it. And so Timothy became a traveling companion, but he also became what I would call a son in the Lord to Paul. And he became part of the team. They traveled together.
So anyway, there in Ephesus, God comes, God blesses, the church is raised up. Paul has to leave.
So he looks around, and I think it was just logical to him that the person who could take his place over the church would be Timothy. He called him his son. He called him his disciple. He'd worked with him for years. There was nobody else really in that group who had Paul's vision or heart like Timothy had it. So he puts him over the church.
And in verse three, chapter one, verse three, it says this as soon as I can see it here says, as I besought thee to abide still in Ephesus when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some, that they teach no other doctrine.
He puts him there. He says, I want you to take charge of the church. And there's some people that are teaching strange doctrines, and I've worked as much as I can to get rid of them. I want you to finish them off. I think that's really what he's saying. I want you to get rid of these people because they're bringing doctrine in that's corrupting the church. And Paul was a man, he believed in, in sound doctrine. You know, some people today are not sure if it exists but, but Paul believed in sound doctrine because that's the truth and he knew that's the foundation. That's where you got to work. So he leaves Timothy there, He says, I want you to get rid of these people and I want you to do this and I want you to do that. Gives him instructions. And when we get to verse 18, which is the original verse that I read, it says here, this is Paul again to Timothy, this charge to put things in order, to keep things in order.
This charge I commit unto the Son, Timothy, according to the prophecies which were before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare.
He said, I left you there, you're in charge.
I want you to war a good warfare according to the prophetic words that were given unto you.
He knows that Timothy's going to go through a long drawn out battle. It's a big time deal there. And so he knows he's going to go through this and he says, I want you to fight, I want you to struggle, I want you to wage the warfare. And some of the tools that you have. Are these the prophecies that were given to you? Timothy, obviously he had the scriptures, Timothy had the Holy Spirit in his heart. Timothy had other things going for him. But Paul also says wage the good warfare or buy, excuse me, by the prophecies that God has given you.
How do you wage a good warfare regarding or with a prophecy that's been given to you?
I have found this.
For me, the best way to wage a warfare is when I'm in a battle and I'm in a problem.
I start going through the archives and how many of you know the Holy Spirit knows where everything is.
And I go back and I start thinking about, well, you know, at that time, so and so prophesied to me that this was going to happen and that this should be the response.
Or in other words, I start looking and I'm realizing the situation I'm in is not really new. It's something that God knew all about from way time beyond. And at the same time he talked to me about it and beforehand he gave me a word about it. And so if I can go back and remember that and take a hold of it, it will strengthen me, it will help me to move forward, it'll help me to fight the good fight.
Are you with me? I, I can remember when I was ordained to the ministry. That's a long time ago. It was in 1981, before. That's the last millennium, really. And I can remember the night I was ordained.
There were three people there. There was our pastor, and there was his Father in law, who was an apostolic man, and then another friend of ours who was there.
And so, you know, when you ordained, they. They sing and everybody's happy, and then somebody preaches a good word, and then after that, they lay hands upon you and they prophesy over you, and then they say whatever they're going to say. And that means you're in. You've been set apart for the ministry. But not only set apart, but when God sets you apart, he gives you what you need to accomplish the purpose that he's given you. It's terrible. You know, my wife tells me, I want you to go to the store and I want you to get this.
This is what wives do with their husband when they want to get rid of them.
Go to the store and buy this.
She doesn't tell me where it is.
So I go to the store and I was like, where is this thing?
And I can spend an hour walking up and down the aisles of the store trying to find the holy thing I've been sent to get. How many of you understand what I'm saying?
And so sometimes it's like that. But coming back to the ordination, you're ordained.
God's going to send you. And what God always does, he always does this. He never does not do this.
When he calls you and ordains you and sends you for a purpose, he gives you what you need to be able to fulfill it.
Are you with me? As somebody said in the Old Testament, God said, do it, but he didn't give you the ability.
But in the New Testament, he said, do it, and he gave you ability.
So God calls Timothy to what I'm going to call a ministry. And he gives him the graces and the abilities that he needs. Let's look at chapter four, verse 15.
Chapter four. Verse 15 says this.
Actually, it's verse 14.
Actually, we'll go with 13. Four. 13 says they're all good, you know. So he says, till I come give attendance to reading. I'm reading the KJV because I couldn't find anything else that I. Big letters. Okay.
I had my phone, but it just kept going off to another page. So he says, till I come give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine, Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy with the laying on of hands of the presbytery.
So what's he saying? Timothy, I want you to take charge of this. I want you to wage a good fight. I want you to do it. I want you to do it according to the prophecies that were given to thee.
I think that what happened there in Ephesus, and I think what happened with Timothy was, as I said, when Paul went through Lystra the second time, there was Timothy, a disciple, well spoken of by all those who were around there. And Paul looked at him and said, what an excellent young man.
So he calls him and says, come with me.
And I think that when he came with Paul, I don't know when it would be. Might have been in Ephesus. I don't really know the date when it happened. But there came a time, I believe, when Paul really was convinced that Timothy had a call from God, that Timothy was God's man. And he says, we need to pray for him and we need to lay hands on him. And we to. We need to set him apart for the work for which God has called him. And we don't know who all the elders were that were there, but it says they laid hands on him. It says they prayed for him. And when that happened, also gifts or a gift were given to him through the Holy Spirit, which means literally they were imparted to him. They were not in his being prior to the time that they prayed for him, but when they prayed for him, literally a deposit was made of a gift of the Spirit or gifts of the Spirit, which in the end became his tools, his arms, his weapons, to be able to fight the battle, being able to go forward. And so Paul is saying, hey, I want you to do a good warfare. Do it according to the prophecies. But he says, you remember when we prayed for you and laid hands on you by the hands of the presbytery, and there was an impartation.
I believe in impartation.
I believe in moments, moments when we're praying and all of a sudden the presence of God comes and he actually puts something in your being, something spiritual that wasn't there before. How many of you understand what I'm saying?
God does that. That's how he equips his people. That's how he prepares his people for the work that's before them. So he says, I want you to fight according to these things.
I think over the Christian life, if you're a minister, I think there are different moments of anointing, and I think they're all related to the phase of work that you're at.
When we were ordained, I can remember the prophetic words that came over us. Not all of them, but I can remember two or three of them. And I can remember one was given by a pastor named Pastor Good from Poria, Illinois. He was our pastor's father in law. And I mean, like, we're like 25 years old maybe. I don't even know how old we were. And anyway, they start to pray over us. And I can still to this day remember part of the words of Brother Good when he prayed over us. And he says, oh, God, give to Brother Evans. He called me Brother Evans. He's like 75 and I was 25. I thought that was very nice of him. He says. He says, give to Brother Evans wisdom for the ministry of foundations that you've given him the ministry of foundations in the scripture to teach.
Now, I might have something buzzing around in my head prior to that, but that night something was solidified, something was concrete. If something was deposited within me. And I'm just going to say this to teach the Scriptures. That's the only thing I can do with my eyes closed. I can't walk with my eyes closed. I can't eat with my eyes closed. I can't do a lot of things, but I can preach or, excuse me, I can teach with my eyes closed. I'm not bragging, but it's just something that's there in my heart that God gave me. And it helps to use this to be fundamental of things we're doing.
I. I remember with John, we work with John speaker, and I can remember going down there and. And I thought, well, okay, John's laying the foundations.
And I thought, what am I doing?
Well, I'm teaching.
And that's what Apollos did with Paul.
Paul laid the foundation and Apollos taught and he built on that foundation. And I thought, wow, what's there is here.
And it's been there all of these years, and it's just never, ever gone away. And I don't think it will. I don't know what will happen after I die. It might get better for all I know. But I. I don't know who's going to do all the teaching in heaven, you know, but it just comes down to there's something there.
And I remember he prayed that. He says, oh, God, give grace, strength to. To Brother Evans and help him to lay foundations.
And then I can remember at another time we're talking about foundations and stuff like that. God can give you a gift which you will enable you to minister.
God can speak to you way back when and give you a word that 50 years later is still going to be working.
I. I look at my life now. I look at my wife's life. We've been following the Lord for 54 years. We. I know we look a little young for that, but we've been serving the Lord for 54 years.
54.
And I still remember different prophetic experiences that came to us right at the beginning.
Are you with me? Right at the beginning.
And I remember one time our pastor preached on missions. He had a church full of young people, and he wanted to send everybody into the world. And I didn't want to go to the world. So anyway, he started to preach on missions. And I pulled out the hymnal. I thought, I'm gonna dominate the hymnal tonight, and I'm just going to block him out. So there's no way anybody's going to get my heart and send me to the nations. But how many of you know God can get around whatever barrier you put up?
And I remember thinking, there's no way. I want to be a missionary. Forget it. I want to stay here. I want to make some money. I want to live happily ever after.
And it's like that. And I thought, finally I couldn't hear the pastor anymore. I thought, wow, I have escaped the silver bullet. I'm not going to be going to the mission field.
And all of a sudden, I had a vision.
And it was a vision as big as a movie theater screen. And it was thousands and thousands and thousands of people from all ages, different colors and everything. And they were all looking at me.
And they were all looking to me.
It was a question, and it was this.
Won't you come and help us?
Won't you come and preach to us?
Won't you come and tell us about Jesus?
Because if nobody comes to tell us about Jesus, we will perish.
And they're all looking at me. And I started thinking, wow, I. I get it, Lord. I think what you want is you want me to go to the nations.
And I could remember reasoning it out, thinking it out of my mind, and I thought, lord, The. The truth of the matter is this.
I don't really belong to myself.
I belong to you.
You bought me with your blood. You redeemed me. And so I have no right over my life to decide what I'm going to do with my life. I belong to you.
You're the one who has the right to dispose of my life as you would.
And if you want me to go to the Nations, I'll go to the Nations.
But you know, in the moment I said, I'll go to the nations, my sadness changed into joy.
Because when you embrace his purposes, you die to yourself, but you rise from the dead with him.
And we. We ate the other day with my.
My ex.
What would it be in English? Sister in law. My ex. Sister in law with her and her husband.
And we hadn't seen them in a long time.
And I started talking to her husband, and he looked at me and he said, are you satisfied with the decision that you made so many years ago and what he was talking about? Are you satisfied at this point in your life with the decision you made when you were 19 and you decided you were going to become a missionary?
And I looked at him, I said, I am absolutely satisfied.
I have no regrets. I would do it again.
Maybe we've lost something, but we've gained so much more than we've lost. We would never do it differently. And he says, okay, you know, and that's what he's thinking. He thinks, okay, but in the end, I'm thinking, I'll lose my train of thought here. But the thing is this. Jesus came, Jesus touched. And that was something that just totally transformed my life, totally changed my life. And that's what we've done for the last 54 years, preach the gospel in the nations. But, you know, with that, certain words came forth, and just the whole concept of who's am, I will, I belong to him. It just became so real. It's never changed. That's just the way it is.
But to think about all that and then begin to think about the nations. And I can remember we had that. I had that. We both had that encounter.
And about four or five months later, our pastor put together a trip of young people and we went to Mexico on an old school bus in June with no air conditioning, crossing Texas and Oklahoma and a few other choice places like that. And it was hot. It was really hot.
And we get into Mexico, and then we come back out to Mexico.
And I remember, how many of you know, when you're a Christian for maybe a year or two, you're not as holy as maybe some other people.
And there are certain lingering things that you need to get rid of. And it just takes time.
Prior to my conversion, I used to have a switchblade knife. I know that nobody else here did, but, you know, I used to have a switchblade knife, and I loved to play with it, you know, had a button on the blade to come out. And anyway, when I got converted, I thought, no, you know, I mean, what am I going to do with that? You know? And so I. I trashed it.
But then when we went to Mexico and we came back up to through the border to brownsville, Texas, prior to coming to Texas, we went to the marketplace in Matamoros, tamaulipas. And I mean, they have everything there in the marketplace. And so I'm walking through the marketplace and I saw a switchblade knife. And I thought, satan, I reprint, you know, But I. I saw that and I said, you know, that's pretty nice looking knife. And so I asked the guy, I said, how much you want for that? And he says, $10.
Give it to me.
And so I took it back and we got on the bus to cross the bridge, Mexico to the u. S.
And I knew something that I didn't want to know, and that was that switchblade knives were illegal in the United States.
So I started thinking, man, oh, man, how am I going to work this?
I want to take this with me, but I know it's illegal, so how am I going to justify this?
And so I thought about it and I finally said, I know what I'll do.
I'm not going to attack anybody. I'm not going to assault anybody, but if anybody comes after me, I'll be ready. And so I justified it, saying I can get this in self defense.
Were going across the bridge from Matamoros to Brownsville, and I had a case of conviction like I've never had in all of my life.
The conviction of the holy spirit came down on me. And it's like he began to tell me, throw it in the river.
Throw it in the river.
I said, no way I'm going to throw that in the river. It cost me $10.
I'm not going to throw that in the river.
But then when we get over to the other side, the American side, I'm thinking, oh, man, if they grab me here, what is my pastor gonna say? Forget the law. What's my pastor gonna say? And so I'm thinking, oh, man, what do I do? And all of a Sudden this guy jumps up on the bus from the, you know, customs. Anybody here buy him a switchblade life?
I did, I did.
So I gave it to him. He jumped off the bus and broke it in three pieces. And I said, wow.
But anyway, I was delivered from a dilemma, but, but we started north. We went through Texas, we went through Oklahoma, we went through Arkansas, we got into Missouri because we're going to Illinois.
And there was this little known Pentecostal campground. I can't remember its name right now, but it was the month of June and it was a youth week at this campground. And so the pastor decided, I got all these ex hippies on the bus. It was all Jesus movement time. He says, I got all these ex hippies and locals on the bus. He says, we'll go to this youth camp for just one meeting.
So we get there and it's like 6:30, 7:00 clock at night. And we go in and forgive me for saying this, it's filled with a bunch of church kids, you know, God bless me. But anyway, bunch of church kids. And we were all like, you know, from the other side.
And we went and we stood in the back of this chapel and there's no place to sit, so you just stand there in the back, you know, like that, with your arms crossed up against the wall. And all of a sudden this preacher comes out. I'd never seen him before in all of my life and I never saw him again.
But this preacher comes out. His name was Brother Gosa. And I do not know how they got that out of the Spanish, but that was his name, Brother Gosa.
So he comes out and he preaches.
I have no idea what he preached. I remember he had white shoes, but I don't remember what he preached.
And so he preaches a sermon and then he gives an altar call.
And when he gave the altar call, something grabbed my heart.
I need to respond to this altar call.
So I go down and he comes down and he starts to prophesy over every one of us, one by one.
And when he gets to me, the first thing he says to me is, you do not need a switchblade knife to protect yourself.
Wow, somebody's talking to me. And my pastor was there and he heard that and he started laughing. He fell off the bench, he was laughing so hard.
But then this guy, I'm thinking, well, somebody's got my attention. This guy's, somebody's talking here.
And he started talking to me about the nations.
And what he said was confirming what had happened to us a couple of months before. It's like he retold me everything I saw in this vision and then there were a couple of things that stuck out to me. Like, you know, you don't need a switchblade knife to protect yourself because I, the Lord, will protect you. So if anybody comes after you with a knife and they want to do you dirty, I will protect you. And then he also said something that I thought was very interesting. He says, and I will give you favor in many nations.
